We were delighted to be the recipients of the University of
British Columbia (UBC) Community-University Engagement Support (CUES) funding.
The funding is intended to sustain community-university partnerships (in our
case our connection with UBC and our program evaluators).
Our proposal "Healthy Together: Engaging dads in
promoting children's healthy lifestyles" stood out among nearly 80 others
as a 'strong example of ethical, sustainable and impactful community-university
engagement' - and we'd have to agree! We're excited to have funding to develop
this work!
Over the next nine months we'll be developing a
framework and list of recommendations to inform the development of a Dads Healthy
Together program, based on current evidence, dads’ preferences, and expert
recommendations.
Joan and Anne (our program evaluators) from UBC,
along with Michele, our HT Master trainer and Director of Family Services at The
Bridge, are working together on this project with a team of experts in men’s
health and dad-specific community programs from across the Canada.
We
are hosting a #DadsSpeakUp campaign, which is taking place this week June 15-22, 2020 (in
line with Fathers Day and men’s health week). During the week, we want to
gather dads’ perspectives on “What is the most important about being a dad?” Dads
are invited to share their thoughts in social media comments or by leaving a
brief voice message 250-807-9191. We’re so excited about this, we’re giving
away prizes.

Wouldn't it be a good idea to create a course?
